Parental Engagement
We just had our first ever, Parent Workshop. During the workshop parents: Parents began the morning by engaging in an ice breaker called “Find Someone One Who?” Parents participated in two workshops the first focused on digital citizenship helping our parents better understand social media as it relates to their children and setting limits at home.
Our second workshop focused on reading comprehension and identifying the differences between fiction and non-fiction genres. Parents concluded the day by creating group presentations relating to the knowledge they learned.
It was a wonderful sight to see our parents present to the whole group how they were planning on going back home to help their students. To show our appreciation for their participation parents received a certificate and we raffled a $50 Target gift card.
